Anantapur, June 10 (Janaswaram): Food Safety officials, along with Legal Metrology Department officials, conducted surprise inspections at juice centers, cool drink shops, and tea cafes across the city. During the inspections, several violations of food safety regulations were identified, and appropriate action was taken. At Anjanna Tea Café, notices were issued under Section 31 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and suspected food samples were collected for laboratory analysis. At Jehan Juice Center, officials identified and destroyed 15 kilograms of unhygienic ice and 5 kilograms of rotten fruits. Notices under Section 31 were also served to Mayabazar Tea Café and Vinayaka Lassi Center. At Star Juice Corner, located opposite the Municipal Office, officials seized and destroyed 10 liters of expired milk packets. A case was registered in connection with the violation, notices were issued, and samples were collected for analysis. A statutory sample was also collected from SLV Rose Milk Center, while the management of Mahaveer Juice Center was instructed to strictly adhere to hygiene standards. Speaking on the occasion, Food Safety Officer Tasleem stated that regular inspections are being conducted across the district to ensure that consumers receive safe and quality food products. He warned that strict action would be taken against the sale of expired, substandard, or unsafe food items. He further emphasized that all food business operators must comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and that any activity endangering public health would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
